Shari’s Shines by Saving Water

Portland, OR – July 17, 2018 – Shari’s restaurants, a beloved family restaurant serving the Pacific Northwest with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients in their generously-proportioned meals, is delighted to be recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy for its achievements in water conservation. Shari’s Restaurants achieved the top spot in water conservation with a 37% improvement throughout all of its locations. This impressive feat contributed to 6.3 billion gallons of cumulative water savings from market leaders in the DOE’s Better Buildings Challenge.

Sam Borgese, CEO and President of Shari’s Restaurants stated, “Jodenne Scott, who leads our energy and natural resource and conservation projects, has demonstrated an exceptional ability to manage our energy and natural resources to the benefit of our company and, more importantly, to the benefit of conserving these resources within numerous communities throughout the Northwest. We are very proud of Jodenne’s stewardship over this program and proud of our restaurant teams working together to deliver the results recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy.”

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, the “Better Buildings Challenge is a DOE initiative designed to improve the lives of the American people by driving leadership in energy innovation. Through Better Buildings, DOE partners with leaders in the public and private sectors to make the nation’s homes, commercial buildings, and industrial plants more energy efficient by accelerating investment and the sharing of successful best practices.”
